You seem to be content playing within the legitimized bounds as though that retains any coherence or power. There was a time when the mechanisms of democracy functioned well enough for this to succeed. However we have had a few too many insubstantial generations in a row, and are left with very little course of action but to reassert the power of the people the old-fashioned way. Only these people are too content living within fantasies to do so. I will not be optimistic until I see the people in the streets. Hardly a high bar to clear given that an enemy of the state occupies its highest office.
Make assumptions as to what I'm content with as you wish. Given your point on "generations" I will hazard we are near the same age (72 in my case) and understand completely. As to the "old-fashioned way" there are new ways to pursue that end but will say nothing more in that regard. People in the streets certainly has it's place as do other approaches. Cheers!
Alas I will be 30 this year. I hope you have not taken my negativity personally, mind you there is a necessity to occupy the darkness so that one knows the sun when it hits them. Cheers to you as well.
If I were 30 I might well feel as you do that the future, at least the near future, contains a lot of "suck". At 72 I've been "around the block" more than a couple of times and given this isn't how I planned on spending my retirement (just retired in 23) we don't necessarily get to pick the time in which we live but we do get to choose how we live in the time we find ourselves. One my favorite t-shirts says "don't piss off old people - The older we get the less "life in prison" is a deterrent." Truth be told.
Thanks. Nice of you to say so. Sometimes the knees remind me of the "sins of my youth" , like playing linebacker for three years in Jr. and Sr. high football. Otherwise doing OK. :)
And I never take anything personally. :) Your mood may be currently understandably a bit dour but your points are valid and reflect what I see as a solid, thoughtful intellect.

Then I hope you can understand the very functional basis of my advocacy here. I am not venting. I am working.
As hopefully we all are. Carry On! :)
For what it is worth, you are a very young 72 :)
