If I were 30 I might well feel as you do that the future, at least the near future, contains a lot of "suck". At 72 I've been "around the block" more than a couple of times and given this isn't how I planned on spending my retirement (just retired in 23) we don't necessarily get to pick the time in which we live but we do get to choose how we live in the time we find ourselves. One my favorite t-shirts says "don't piss off old people - The older we get the less "life in prison" is a deterrent." Truth be told.
