If I ran a classroom like these idiots have “run” America, there would be complete anarchy. How are these billionaires and Trump losers so dumb?

Their goal is to tank the economy. It’s from the Peter Thiel school of thought. They wanna burn the peasants and they’re going to force people into peasantry. This is evil at its core and the Democrats better get balls.

It’s hard to disagree there’s a deeper game being played here, and everyday people are the ones paying the price. The level of indifference to real suffering is staggering. At some point, the response has to match the urgency and the stakes. The Democrats do need to find the courage to fight fire with fire, or they’ll keep losing ground while the rest of us bear the burden.

The Nazis degraded Jews in the same way that Nazi Trump/Musk are degrading federal workers.

Of course, as you are recording this, SpaceX starship has blown up again and debris is cascading toward earth, causing flights to reroute or stay on the ground.

This morning on Facebook I saw Governor Brad Little extolling how wonderful President Trump is because he's making the federal government more like Idaho. We have an extremely anti-government state so that all social services are extremely underfunded and state employees are paid less than surrounding states. The only way things work is we are subsidized by the federal government. Local governments get grants from the federal government for basic things like fixing the roads. What happens when the federal government can no longer subsidize Idaho's choice to have "small government"? It is, as Prof. Krugman says, "completely delusional."

In terms of small government, most people are not thinking about what they get from the government. I see that at the local level too. Taxes are not popular...and yet if their roads are cleared of snow, the garbage isn't picked up, etc. And then on the federal level, smaller government, but I need my social security, my medicare, my meat and produce needs to be without contamination, I need a safe workplace, air traffic control, etc. They just don't get what it is they are getting from the government.

Indeed.

Suppose we go back to really small govt.

Almost no govt services. Tarifs at the border pay for the military.

The rich hire their private armies to protect themselves, like mafia bosses.

The super-rich resolve conflicts between themselves by open warfare.

Roads are just unpaved trails, commerce largely local for lack of communication.

No garbage collection, it just litters the streets, resulting in frequent plagues.

The average citizen travels armed, for self protection. Firearms are a major cause of death. Few live past the age of 50.

Disease is rampant, most children die before age 5.

Idylic world, right ?

I have been banging the drum on Reagan for 40 years! He set the fire and it’s now burning everywhere! I feel seen! But, how do we return to normal? Let’s bring on a new New Deal! Give it a new name.

It's so delightful and fun to watch Mr. Hasan smile and quietly laugh when Krugman discusses the psychology of donald trump because of the accuracy of Krugman's take on trump's "mental health" (or the lack thereof) and that Hasan agrees deeply with Krugman's view on this particular problem.
