Haven’t you learned anything Professor? Those windmills cause cancer. In fact, the venerated RFK Jr. says it’s also the leading cause for adult autism, so stay away, stay very far away!
That said, enjoy your vacation, you going to need it and I’m very jealous…:)
Windmills attract Maggots who eat our seed corn…they are attracted by el$ctricity, it’s why when he stands up there are so many around him. They feed on his awesome aura.
If you sample the delicious Dutch stroopwafels, french fries, and chocolate, you will be immune. Be warned that a long term side affect of Dutch chocolate is that whenever you eat an American Hershey Kiss, you get this urge to spit it out.
We bought hot dogs from a cart at the Keukenhof. Absolutely delicious. I tried to find out the brand and whether they're exported but I failed. We spent a week in Amsterdam and everything except the coffee was better than the food in the States.
And the birds! All those beautiful birds! Just today some big strong birds came up to me, tears straming down their beaks, pleading for me to save them from bearded Jewish economists!
cause of autism. It can readily be shown that in every single case since the Big Bang (or 6,000 years ago if you’re a Christian Nationalist), the person had drank water.
I've a book by a British naval officer who captained MTBs during WWII. One sentence really stuck with me - "The low countries are not idly named and sighting the coast was usually synonymous with being aground."
You made me laugh George. But indeed, specially in winter time our part of the world, the Netherlands and the Flemish part of Belgium) is a flat and low as flat and low can be.
Whenever you stand on some bridge over a road and have a wide view you feel as if you're on top of an enormous mountain.
Yes ... I was kind of referring to the Coda ... and I was able to understand ... mostly my Danish grandmother in law ... but her written word ... never.
Welcome to the Netherlands. My wife and I live in Breda. Here is my blog about interesting towns and cities in the Netherlands. It's not about where to sleep, eat and night-life. It's about the uniqueness of each place in a historic sense. https://travelsforgood.blog/ Have a safe and enjoyable trip.
Thank you for the link to your blog. I am planning trips to the Netherlands and Belgium (once the renovation of the Rubenshuis is completed) and was looking for information on some of the less traveled towns and cities. Like Mechelen, Leuven, Maastricht, and Breda (even though I know it’s different than the view in Velasquez’ painting. So I will revel reading an insider’s view.
I shared your link on the substack of an American living in Portugal. I thought in deserved to be distributed more widely. There's so much of history I don't know, and I'm fascinated by the stories you're telling. (“Do something for peat’s sake.” That got a good chuckle out of me.)
I plan to revisit the site when I have time to read more. Thanks for sharing.
You're quite welcome. It's obvious you put a lot of time and effort and care into your blog. You can believe me when I say it is appreciated.
The American I mentioned travels extensively throughout Europe and has a decent sized subscriber base. I thought it might be something of interest to all of them. I hope some of them find their way to your blog.
I can't tell you how often I've wished I could go there to explore Europe for myself, but, alas, it's not to be.
If you haven’t already done so, visit the Witch Weighing Scale in Oudewater. The town offering one of the few non-rigged weigh scales, where a suspected witch could be certified not a witch if she had mass. Interesting fact that all weighed had mass and were given an out to the witch hunt.
In addition to adding to the economy of Oudewater, the scale may have made a point about the absurdities of witch hunts. Perhaps we should set up a scale on the site of the Colonial Oudewater (Outwater) Family Farms, which is now the Meadowlands stadium complex in New Jersey. I heard that Antifa members have no mass.
It's been great to get a sense this year of the human being behind the dry economics of the past. Plus your eclectic musical taste. Im off to Vesper Siciliani tonight.
And if you've not done it, do try cycling through Eastern Europe - it's mostly flat! Estonia to the Black Sea was a massive education in the history of that part of the world, brought to life. Though you will know far more than most.
Eastern Europe may be mostly flat, but I can assure you that I've checked personally many times, on foot, and there are NO downhill slopes in the Buda half of Budapest, Hungary/Magyarorszag. It's 100% uphill.

Oh, tut, Robert! Wind turbines out at sea cause cancer and lenghty outbreaks of stupidity.
Windmills, on the other hand, cause psoriasis, athlete's foot and hemorrhoids.
Buck up.
And bone spurs?
Touché!…:)

You don't go to the coffee shops for the coffe.

Let me guess, the birds said “Sir…”
And Stephen likes birds, crows, and magpies…
Windmills do not cause cancer, that is pure misinformation. However, it is beyond any doubt whatsoever that they are a contributing factor to autism.
Water is the
cause of autism. It can readily be shown that in every single case since the Big Bang (or 6,000 years ago if you’re a Christian Nationalist), the person had drank water.

Welcome in the low countries.

Really wish my German was better.
Dear Jenn,.... eh..... , my northern neighbor Fonger was writing in Dutch.
Groeten van een Belg.
Yes ... I was kind of referring to the Coda ... and I was able to understand ... mostly my Danish grandmother in law ... but her written word ... never.
Dutch as opposed to Deutsch.
They’re closely related West-Germanic languages. Mind you, so is English.
Yes. Light = licht.
change one letter (and the pronunciation) and you jump from English to German. There's so much fun to be had from language! 🤡
On a bike along the Dutch Mills…:)
"Really wish my German was better."

It wouldn't have helped there.
Ouch. That is either a subtle insult or ignorance.
No, I should have referred to the Coda and placed my comment further up the chain.
Splendid musical interlude, thanks
Imagine! Mozart first thing in the morning. Thank you.
"I love the smell of Mozart in the morning."

Have fun!
Keep having fun with your family Mr. Krugman. You look like you’re having a great time. Holland??👍🙏💙
What makes you think that?
How DARE you! We pay nothing for this most important and informative service and, in typical American fashion, expect something in return.
Enjoy!!
Oh, no, standing by a wind turbine, Professor Krugman? Aren't there whales being driven crazy and dead birds falling from it?:)

Trick is to follow the Danube!
Otherwise from Tallin until you hit the Tatra, it's pretty much flat.
Enjoy Paul and fam!
