Colleagues in India are moving back home as hotels and restaurants close in big cities because of a lack of gas to cook and heat. Colleagues in China tell me the high prices and gas lines signal a longterm price rise. Colleagues in Europe tell me there is already a hierarchy of who can buy gas - truck drivers come first. The rest of the world is already feeling the coming energy crisis and global recession.

Will Trump chicken out from his latest threat to commit crimes against humanity? If he doesn't, then I think we'll be looking at that worst-case scenario.

I find it both amazing and deeply disturbing that neither Trump nor any of the people around him have been able to grasp that the Iranians have agency and that, like any nation under attack, the Iranians can and will fight back. Trump and Hegseth with their "high-lethality" non-woke military didn't anticipate that Iran--the world's top supplier of Shahed drones--would fight back using Shahed drones. They couldn't imagine that the Strait of Hormuz--considered a likely Iranian chokepoint since Reagan's first term--would actually be used by Iran as a chokepoint.

Being led by short-sighted imbeciles is no way to go to war.
